A crochet dress gifted to a vivacious girl

shoulder to lowest point : 14.5 in length
chest circumference: 22 inches
Promenade: French for a leisurely outdoor stroll.
The wavy stitch pattern and yarn/hook size choice give this colorful dress a flowy and lively movement.

I used Stylecraft Special yarn and a bigger hook size then the recommended 4 mm. I decided on a 5 mm hook, to give this crochet baby dress a flowy swing.
I like Stylecraft special yarn. I made numerous crochet blankets with this yarn. The yarn is light weight, super soft and glides nicely on the hook. And the color choice is vast. the only drawback is after use and wash the finish crochet items tend to have some fuzziness.

I’m now working on a top for Leyla with the same stitch design and Paintbox yarn 100% cotton. It’s superb! I’ll share the result in a later post.

The promenade Crochet dress pictured is for a 12 month girl. The yoke can be adjusted for bigger size. It’s just a matter of working enough rows to create the needed armhole opening.

Then for the bottom of the crochet dress, you’ll have to play with the placement of the waves. See below how to center the wave pattern.
Step by Step Instruction

How to center the wave pattern
What you’re doing in rows 3, 5, 7, 9, 11 and 13 is to make sure the middle ldc between the 2 groups of 5 ldc are aligned from row to row. This way the waves are balanced.
