Marché Bag
Construction
The bag is worked from the bottom up, then the two handles are made separately and tie to the bag.
Material
You can use any worsted weight yarn
Yarn used in pictured bag:
Brand: Lily Sugar ‘n Cream
Color A: Solid Hot Blue
Color B: Ombre Coral Seas
5 mm hook
Abbreviation:
ch chain
dc double crochet
dc2tog yarn over, insert hook in 1st designated stitch, draw a loop, yarn over, pull thru 2 loops, yarn over, insert hook in 2nd designated stitch, draw a loop, yarn ove, pull thru 2, yarn over pull thru all loops
sc single crochet

Body
With color A. Begin with a ch 4
Round 1 (all stitches are worked in the 1st ch of the beginning ch 4 ): 2dc, (ch 2, 3 dc) 3 times, ch 1, sl.st. to 3rd chain of beginning ch 4
Round 2: ch 3, *1 dc in each next dc to ch 2 space, (2 dc, ch 2, 2dc) in ch 2 space, repeat from * around, sl. st. to 3rd ch (7 dc on each side separated by ch 2 space)
Round 3 as round 2 (11 dc on each side separated by ch 2 spaces)
Round 4 as round 2 (15 dc on each side separated by ch 2 spaces)
Round 5 as round 2 (19 dc on each side separated by ch 2 spaces)
Round 6 as round 5 (21 dc on each side separated by ch 2 spaces)
On each side, counting from the corner ch 2 space put a marker on the 12th dc
Round 6: ch 3,*I dc on each dc to 2 dc before marker, dc2tog the next 2 dcs, skip the marked dc, dc2tog next 2 dcs, 1 dc on each dc to ch 2 space, (2 dc, ch2, 2 dc) in ch 2 space, repeat from * 3 more times, sl.st. to 3rd ch
Round 7: ch 3, 1 dc on each dc to 2 dc before dc2tog , dc2tog, skip next 2 dc2tog, dc2tog next 2 dc, 1 dc on each dc to ch 2 space, (2 dc, ch2, 2 dc) in ch 2 space, repeat from * 3 more times, sl.st. to 3rd ch
Round 8- 13 as round 7
With color B Round 14 -15 as round 7
With color A ound 16 – 18 as round 7
With color B round 19 -20 as round 7
With color A round 21-23 as round 7
Fasten off

make 2 icords
If you don’t know how to crochet an icord here is a video on youtube that I find very helpful.
Make the cord to your desired length an tie it to the ch 2 spaces.
to make it more secure I also sew the sides of the knot to the bag.
